Tacoma Pierce County Chaplaincy was incorporated in 1971 to provide crisis support services to first responders and the community. We accomplish this mission by commissioning, training and supporting Public Safety Chaplains who serve Police and Fire Agencies throughout Pierce County. Our organization is funded solely by private donations made by First Responders and members of the community. Thank you for your support!

OUR MISSION
At TPCC, our mission is to provide crisis support services to First Responders and the community. 24 hours per day, 7 days per week, our Public Safety Chaplains respond to thousands of service calls each year, directly providing service to First Responders and to the nearly 900,000 residents of Pierce County.
After successful completion of our Academy, our Chaplains are equipped to serve in the following ways:
-
On-Scene Support: emergency assistance for first responders & members of the community
-
Crisis Intervention: suicide prevention, mental health first aid & other crisis mediation services
-
Death Notifications: contact, notify & support next of kin after the loss of a loved one
-
Peer Team & Critical Incident Stress Management Support: facilitate and participate in activities to aid in healthy recovery & reactivation
-
Career Support: provide support that aids in keeping personnel on-center and in-service
-
Family Support: provide support to family members & participate in Family Association events
-
Line of Duty Death Support: provide support to the families and peers of fallen first responders
-
Community Outreach: participate in events that strengthen relationships with the community
OUR ACADEMY
Since 2002, the Police & Fire Chaplains Training Academy has graduated
over 800 Chaplains from all corners of the US and as far away as South
Africa. We are dedicated to equipping Police and Fire Chaplains with skills
necessary to effectively function in emergency scenarios, and to bring
compassionate care to First Responders, their families, agencies and the
community they serve. The program provides 50 hours of classroom and
practical scenario-based training.
Our Academy partners with the International Conference of Police
Chaplains, the Federation of Fire Chaplains, the Washington State Criminal
Justice Training Commission and the Seattle Fire Department. The
Academy Command Staff and cadre of Subject Matter Expert Instructors
bring decades of experience to the week.
Offered twice each year in May and October, the Academy is held at the
Washington State Criminal Justice Training Commission in Burien, WA. For
